Oldham manufacturer identifies £30k savings with ENWORKS
Building products manufacturer, Quantum Profile Systems Ltd (QPSL), has identified annual savings of over £30,000 thanks to Green Growth resource efficiency support from ENWORKS.
The Oldham-based company specialises in the extrusion of rigid and flexible PVC and employs 70 people, with a turnover of £9 million.
Having been established for over 40 years, QPSL underwent a management buy out in 2000, and has since undergone a major transformation under the banner of “Lean and Green, Safe and Clean”.
Savings achieved
QPSL have been engaged with ENWORKS since 2012 to help improve their processes and ensure they maintain their ISO 14001 status.
Thanks to previous resource efficiency support from ENWORKS, the company is already saving nearly £122,000 and 320 tonnes of CO2e a year through compressed air efficiency improvements, reduced raw material usage, process controls and legal compliance.
Green Growth
ENWORKS continues to provide resource efficiency support to QPSL through its new business support service, Green Growth, which supports SMEs in Greater Manchester and Cumbria.
Actions undertaken to date include an onsite resource efficiency review, thermal imaging surveys and support with environmental and sustainability queries.
Opportunities
These actions have identified a number of improvement opportunities for QPSL, including upgrading their compressed air system and lighting across the site and improving the amount of recycled material used in products.
In total, the newly identified opportunities equate to annual savings of nearly £34,000 and 90 tonnes of CO2e.
'Green credentials'
Laura Bayliss, ENWORKS resource efficiency advisor, said:
“It’s great to provide ongoing support to QPSL, a successful company producing increasingly sustainable products through a lean manufacturing process. It’s fantastic to see a company that is already proactive utilise the services ENWORKS offer to further increase cost savings and resource reductions."
Commenting on the support from ENWORKS, Simon Crossley, Operations Manager, said:
“QPSL are committed to environmental sustainability and ENWORKS have allowed us to improve our green credentials at the same time as reducing our overheads.”
