Waste firm wins £13,500 contract with ENWORKS support

White Recycling, a trading name of The White Group, provides total waste management services for metal, wood, card and paper, plastics, hardcore, soils and waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

The company, which employs 82 people at its site in Eccles and has a turnover of £7.6 million, operates to a zero waste to landfill policy. It currently receives over 175,000 tonnes of waste each year, all of which is recycled, where possible, or recovered as solid recovered fuel (SRF) for energy generation.

ENWORKS support

White Recycling is one of the first companies to receive low carbon sector support from ENWORKS as part of its Green Growth service for SMEs.

The low carbon sector support programme offers a suite of tailored services to help SMEs in Greater Manchester’s low carbon and environmental goods and services (LCEGS) sector to grow and thrive.

The LCEGS sector covers all economic activity that deals with environmental issues, ranging from traditional pollution clean-up and waste management, to renewable energy, to complex low carbon technologies.

Connecting opportunities

The support White Recycling has received to date includes market intelligence and the promotion of their waste management services to potential customers receiving support through the Green Growth’s resource efficiency programme.

Through this channel, businesses receiving support to become more resource efficient create sales opportunities for businesses in the LCEGS supply chain like White Recycling.

ENWORKS is then able to connect these opportunities, allowing buyers to become more resource efficient and find cost savings, and sellers to find new avenues for growth.

As a result of their support, White Recycling received a number of new sales leads which has directly led to being awarded a new £13,500 waste management contract.

“As more organisations across Greater Manchester embed resource efficiency into their business models and the region transitions to a low carbon economy, key opportunities for growth are appearing for firms in the LCEGS sector like White Recycling. Through its sustainable waste management solutions, White Recycling is able to create environmental benefits for its clients and achieve growth at the same time. ENWORKS will continue to provide on-going support to ensure their growth potential is achieved.”
