The new iteration of the Five Year Environment Plan for Greater Manchester was launched at the Green Summit on 9th December.   As part of the launch, we wanted to also create a film which engaged, encouraged and emboldened individuals to be part of this plan, showing what others in the region are already doing to live better and more sustainably.

The new Five Year Environment Plan (2025 – 2030) will ensure everyone has access to high-skilled jobs, warm homes that cost less to run, and cheaper, greener public transport.  It will aim to create a healthy, low carbon, nature-rich environment – supporting growth, creating new jobs and investment opportunities, leading to a lower cost of living for all. The plan sets out how public and private sector organisations, national government, and communities can work together to become carbon neutral by 2038.

When the Five Year Environment Plan was being developed, we wanted to bring the plan to life, proper life with the people who are already shifting attitudes (as well as earth) to improve their local communities’ well-being and influencing others to switch behaviour, there are many individuals and organisations who are all enriching our local communities and bringing ‘tomorrow’s world’ technology to the region making a massive impact to our local industry.

We wanted to showcase and raise the profile of what they are doing and what we can all do to travel to a more sustainable tomorrow by make smarter choices and helping the region achieve our 2038 carbon neutrality target.

Consequently, we commissioned Brickhouse Media Group to create and produce a film which would instil a sense of pride in the actions and projects which are taking place in Greater Manchester and to urge everyone to do the same.    These small actions include taking a keeper-cup to refill your morning brew whilst on the move, taking the Bee Network to simplify your journey around the city-region, volunteering at your local green space project, shopping local, repairing worn and broken items, making energy efficient improvements at home…

Please join with the film’s rallying cry, to move with the times, reach for cleaner skies and greener streets and together we can be the Bees Knees!  We hope you will enjoy and share this film:
