A £40,000 donation from 0800 Repair is helping fund green and wellbeing projects across Greater Manchester.

A series of impactful community projects across Greater Manchester are being brought to life thanks to a £40,000 social value contribution from 0800 Repair. The funding has been distributed across several local authorities, supporting a range of initiatives to tackle social inequalities and promote environmental sustainability.

In Rochdale, plans are in motion to renovate the community hub at Roch Vale, a Council-owned travellers’ site. The on-site porta cabin, once used for children’s library sessions, NHS health visits and community meetings, had fallen into disrepair. With the support of the funding, Rochdale Borough Council now hopes to restore the hub as a vital link between the Council and this community.

Over in Oldham, a £10,000 share of the funding has gone to Warm Homes Oldham. It’s being used to provide winter warm packs for vulnerable families, including blankets, duvets, hot water bottles, hoodies and air fryers, helping residents stay warm and cook efficiently during the colder months.

Tameside is using its allocation to host community-based events designed to bring people together and connect them with wider support services they may not be aware of.

In Bury, the funding is being channelled through the Bury Voluntary, Community and Faith Alliance (VCFA) to enhance existing grant programmes. This includes covering volunteer expenses, training opportunities, environmental audits, and small green space improvements. It’s also supporting initiatives such as local fruit deliveries from Bury Market and bike locker access at Bury Interchange, all boosting local wellbeing and sustainability.
