City of Trees celebrates Greater Manchester’s treasure trove of trees and woodlands and encourages people to learn more about their amazing benefits this November.
Greater Manchester Tree Month launches on 1st November! Each week will have a different topic from ‘trees and bees’ and celebrating our pollinators, to highlighting our green heroes and the best woodland walks in Greater Manchester.
People can get involved by spreading the word, having a go at activities such as building a bug hotel as well as sharing their experiences of visiting their park or local green space.
The movement has also teamed up partners such as Discover the Wild and Rhiane Fatinikun from Black Girls Hike who has created a series of videos showcasing some of the best walks in the region, close to our urban areas.
City of Trees is asking people to support their work by making a donation online via the website or by text (text GMTREEMONTH to 70085 to donate £5). Anyone making a regular gift in the month of November will receive a free pack of wildflower seeds.
Sarah Nurton from City of Trees says: “London has its very own tree week but as the late Tony Wilson said, one of the founders of Factory Records, ‘This is Manchester, we do things differently here…’ so we’re really excited to be launching the first ever Greater Manchester Tree Month throughout November, celebrating the awesome trees and woods across the city region.”
