The Low Carbon Team is celebrating after picking up two awards at this year’s Regional Energy Efficiency Awards in Bolton.
GMCA’s ECO4 Flex scheme was named “Regional Large-Scale Project of the Year”, recognising the impact of a programme that has brought more than £27 million of national Energy Company Obligation funding into Greater Manchester to support residents living in fuel poverty.
The award reflects the real difference the scheme has made, with many residents now saving around £573 a year on fuel bills.
Close partnership with NHS colleagues also meant residents living with health conditions and cold homes were referred quickly for support.
GMCA was also named “Regional Council / Local Authority Body of the Year”, recognising the wider work taking place across Greater Manchester to reduce carbon emissions and help residents make their homes more energy efficient.
The awards were collected by Emily and Molly from the Low Carbon Team, pictured with our contractor Next Energy, who also picked up two awards of their own.
Although ECO4 Flex has now closed to new referrals, residents can still explore what support may be available by visiting our Retrofit Portal at https://gmca.retrofitportal.org.uk/.
The portal is a dedicated online hub for people living in Greater Manchester, bringing together information about home energy upgrades, grants and future schemes in one place. By registering their interest, residents can receive updates about new opportunities and find out how to make their homes warmer, greener and more energy efficient.
