Want to get outdoors and give nature a helping hand?
The Forestry Commission might have just the task for you in Greater Manchester.
The Forestry Commission is currently recruiting volunteers to get involved in the community woodlands in the Manchester area. They are welcoming anyone with a passion for trees and nature, who’s happy to get their hands dirty.
Take part in a diverse range of volunteering opportunities including clearing vegetation, removing old fences, collecting tree tubes, and pruning trees. All of these activities help to enhance your local woodland for visitors and improve habitats for the wildlife living in the woods.
No experience is needed as all tools and training are provided. There’ll also be plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits!
Planned sessions are on the following dates in the Drinkwater, Waterdale and Forest Bank areas:
- Thursday 9th January 2020
- Tuesday 4th February 2020
- Tuesday 3rd March 2020
- Tuesday 31st March 2020
Timings for each day will be 10am to 3pm with a break for lunch around 12 noon.
Interested? Please contact Tracey Greer on 0300 067 4701 or tracey.greer@forestryengland.uk
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
