A Greater Manchester energy efficiency scheme has been featured on Channel 4 News, highlighting how local retrofit efforts are helping households stay warm and reduce bills amid rising energy costs.

The segment, filmed at a home in Stockport, showcases work supported through one of Greater Manchester’s retrofit programmes. The property received improved insulation and a new boiler installation, part of wider efforts to support residents through the cost of living crisis and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The feature aired as Ofgem announced a new energy price cap of £1,849 from April, a 6.4% increase for the average household. With energy prices still volatile and the UK’s housing stock among the least energy efficient in Europe, retrofit measures remain a crucial solution to tackling fuel poverty and cutting carbon emissions.

So far, nearly 12,000 homes have benefited from similar upgrades across Greater Manchester, helping to ease financial pressure on residents and support healthier, more sustainable living environments.
