Last year’s Green Summit, which took place in December, played host to one of our School Eco Refill Shop Enterprise Teams from St Margaret Mary’s Primary School, a hugely successful Eco Refill Shop from the first cohort of schools.
They were invited by the Mayor of Greater Manchester to speak on the main stage during the morning plenary session. The children spoke confidently and enthusiastically to an audience of over 1200 delegates about their school refill shop and why hosting the shop has proven to be a huge sustainability boost to their school, their learning and social skills and the wider school community.

The Green Summit also included a great addition to the marketplace, an Eco Refill Shop, kindly hosted by Lizzie at Pupils Profit and the Enterprise Team from St Margaret Mary’s Primary School. It’s an understatement to say that the shop was a success, all the 500ml containers were filled and sold during the morning of the summit, with reports that they could have sold twice as much throughout the day!
St Peter’s Primary School, Salford, who also attended the Green Summit and are set to run their own Eco Refill Shop this year, really enjoyed and benefited from meeting the pupils of St Margaret Mary’s at the GM Green Summit, they said that it gave them even more enthusiasm for what’s to come, and also helped to put their minds at ease that what seems a big task at first, is actually very achievable.
